B.K.C. : "this kind of woman is an asset, not a liability, to her husband. good comes to him that can be directly attributed to her. she supports and encourages him. and is faithful in helping him all...her life."(vs. 12)
This verse might be one that is a little tougher to swallow, especially given the worlds view on the role of a woman. We are being influenced to go along with the "every man for himself" thought process. But what we neglect to acknowledge or maybe even realize is this. We are helpers to our husbands. Put there to help be that "behind-the-scenes" encouragement and support. This goes all the way back to Adam and Eve. "then the Lord God said, 'It is not good for man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him." GENESIS 2:18 We were designed from the very beginning to be their helpers. Not to rule over them, nor to be squashed beneath them but to stand beside them encouraging them. Lifting them up and helping when they need it the most. Sometimes we as women have a hard time keeping our mouths closed. We see the solution to a problem and think that we need to shout it from the mountaintops what it is that needs to be done. However, more often than not, we just need to be quiet and wait, and if the time arises for our thoughts to be spoken then so be it. A noble woman is not one that goes around spouting off what everyone needs to do. She is an often times "silent" helper. One who's helpfulness is seen more in her actions rather than her words.
