1 Corinthians 9:24-27

"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win. Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified." 1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (NASB)

This evening we had our family devotions and this was the leading passage. Upon reading it I was reminded of how quickly we get caught up in life and how sometimes our efforts in our relationship with God begin to become routine and mundane.
Have you ever caught yourself while praying, suddenly realizing that you're mouthing the right words and praying the right way but, it is simply that, your heart is not in it. There's just no depth in what your talking to the Savior about.
We need to always make sure that we are running this race with the end in sight. That our reward is not what we receive on earth, it is the ultimate prize of the opportunity of spending eternity in heaven with the One that truly matters. Run with the desire of knowing that your efforts will lead you to hear the Father say...
"Well done, My good and faithful servant."
